The Texas Rangers, as expected, called up A.J. Alexy from Round Rock to make Monday’s start. Not as expected, the Rangers also activated pitcher Joe Barlow from the 10 day injured list. Barlow had been on the i.l. with a blister. To make room for Barlow and Alexy, the Rangers returned Jake Latz to AAA Round Rock and placed Andy Ibanez on the 10 day injured list.
Latz was brought up because of a COVID outbreak and so, under the new rules for 2021, he is able to be removed from the 40 man roster and returned to the minors without having to be exposed to waivers.
