The Texas Rangers scored six runs while the Pittsburgh Pirates scored two runs.
I would imagine Jacob deGrom hasn’t allowed five consecutive two-out base runners very many times in his career, if ever, but that’s what happened in the bottom of the fourth in tonight’s contest. That rare hiccup that included four singles and a walk allowed the Pirates to score their two runs tonight.
Otherwise, deGrom was good. Besides that fourth inning, he allowed just one more hit all evening while striking out seven on 84 pitches, which spanned six innings of work.
