3-6 - No lumber for slumbering Rangers as San Diego grabs 2-0 shutout sweep

The Texas Rangers scored zero runs and the San Diego Padres scored two runs.

The Rangers had five hits today which is a major improvement over Friday’s contest but they could have used a few of the runs that they scored in Saturday’s loss.

Down 1-0 following a fourth inning Trent Grisham dinger, Texas had their chances with rallies in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings. With the tying run in scoring position in each of those frames, they couldn’t get the base hit to even the score.

A ninth inning Manny Machado solo shot off of Ian Kennedy proved to be the backing-breaking insurance that San Diego wouldn’t even need.
