27-48 - Rangers waylaid early in 5-1 finale loss to Athletics

The Texas Rangers scored one run but the Oakland Athletics scored five runs.

Kolby Allard inherited the first inning curse today as the lefty allowed three A’s runs before the Rangers had even stepped into the batter’s box. Given a three-run lead, Oakland starter Chris Bassitt went to work for seven innings of one-run ball as the A’s were able to take the finale and leave Texas with a series tie.

It’s a shame that Allard was ambushed out of the gate because he settled in nicely after the first and ultimately tossed six innings and allowed just one run after the fatal frame.
