19-24 - Rangers stop the bleeding by clobbering Cole, Yankees 5-2

The Texas Rangers scored five runs and the New York Yankees scored two runs.

After the Rangers had their worst road trip of the entire time I’ve followed the team, I definitely was not expecting them to end their losing streak against Gerrit Cole and the Yankees tonight. With Jordan Lyles on the mound for Texas, this one seemed like a seventh L in the making.

Nevertheless, for as much as baseball has grown predictable to some folks, sometimes the ol’ game’ll still have a surprise for ya.

The real reason to be amazed tonight was Lyles outpacing Cole as the Yankees’ ace lasted only five innings where he struck out just seven Rangers and even walked two batters after coming into the game with a miniscule 0.
