13-9 - Rangers fall 1-0 despite Mahle’s dominance

The Texas Rangers scored zero runs but the Los Angeles Dodgers scored one run.

First of all, Tyler Mahle was fantastic today. The resurgent righty tossed seven innings of two-hit ball and held the Dodgers off the scoreboard. The pitching overall was excellent not just in this series, but the entire homestand.

The Rangers allowed just four runs total to the Angels to start the week and then held the reigning champions to seven runs over the weekend. That’s an average of 1.8 runs per game for the Texas staff.

Today, that excellence lost its shine for just a moment in the eighth, immediately after Mahle exited, when Chris Martin coughed up the game’s only run via some Dodgers small ball.
