The Latest Rangers Trade Deadline Rumors On Jonathan Lucroy, Favorites For Sale And More

The MLB trade deadline of August 1st is rapidly approaching and the Texas Rangers trade rumors are starting to heat up on the hot stove. The Rangers are 58-44, at the top of the AL West and have already completed one minor trade for pitching help yesterday. And they likely aren't done yet. With that in mind, here all the latest Rangers trade rumors.

Rangers After Lucroy?
It's not the first time the Rangers have been linked to the Brewers' catcher, but the trade discussions are still ongoing.

Texas has struggled to get much offense from their catchers. Lucroy is hitting .300 with 13 homers this year and would be a massive upgrade. But with so much interest, the Brewers' asking price might be higher than expected.

Texas Favorites For Chris Sale?
If the White Sox decide to try to trade Chris Sale, he immediately becomes the top starter on the market. Several teams could make a run at Sale, and Jon Heyman has the Rangers at the top of the list.

It appears Texas wants to keep Rougned Odor and Nomar Mazara, who they love and are already making big contributions to the first-place team, but the belief is that for Sale they probably would include the just-promoted slugger Joey Gallo and multi-talented infielder Jurickson Profar. While the Rangers’ system is rich, the issue may be which young pitchers to include. GM Jon Daniels is believed to love Sale, and he’s done this sort of deal before, having pulled off the smart Cole Hamels trade a year ago.

Sale will demand a big return, and there's a good chance offering Profar and Gallo isn't going to be enough.

Rangers Want Taijuan Walker Or James Paxton?
The Rangers, as mentioned above, are looking for starting pitching help. In addition to their interest in Sale (and as reported yesterday, Jeremy Hellickson) on Heyman reports the Rangers called the Seattle Mariners about starter Taijuan Walker and James Paxton. The 21-year-old Walker is currently hurt, but has a bright future. He's 4-7 with a 3.66 ERA this year. Paxton's ERA has jumped to 4.27 (it was 3.90 last year), but he's still 24 years old. Both players are young and controllable for several more years, which is what the Rangers, ideally, are looking for if they trade for a starter. However, Heyman reports the Mariners are unlikely to deal either.
