Texas Football Recruiting News: Longhorns Showing Major Interest In Five-Star Safety

The Texas Longhorns are ramping up their pursuit of Jeffrey Okudah (Grand Prairie, TX), the nation’s top ranked safety in the class of 2017.

“I’m keeping in contact with the staff,” Okudah said. “I know they are interested in me, and I’m interested in them because of the tradition they have. Coach (Vance) Bedford and Coach (Charlie) Strong will have my moral values right if I go down there. They are more disciplined guys. That kind of reminds me of my parents. I actually really like that. I really like them.”

The 6-foot-1, 192 pounder is ranked as the No. 10 overall prospect in the country and is also strongly considering Alabama, Florida State, Michigan, and Ohio State. However, Okudah said that he's not too concerned about how Texas performs on the field this season.

“It doesn’t really matter to me if they win a lot this year,” Okudah said. “NFL teams aren’t looking at that. They want to see how the player forms individually, and they do a great job developing talent.”
