Texas Football Recruiting: Longhorns Expected To Flip Arkansas Commit, Favorite For 4-Star DE & More

We're one day away from National Signing Day, and the Texas Longhorns have a chance to solidify a top recruiting class with a big day. The Longhorns had a successful Early Signing Period, signing 19 of their 25 commitments to secure their place as a top-three recruiting class. Here are the latest Texas football recruiting rumors you need to know before signing day:

Longhorns expected to flip Arkansas commit
Three-star linebacker Andrew Parker (New Orleans, LA) committed to Arkansas on Jan. 21, but the Longhorns have been a favorite throughout his recruitment and are expected to flip him on signing day, according to E.J. Holland of Horns247.

It appeared as if Texas was going to nab two commitments today. However, New Orleans Wright (La.) inside linebacker Andrew Parker decided to delay his final decision until National Signing Day. From what we were able to gather, Parker did intend on flipping from Arkansas today. So will he follow through with that on Wednesday? We still feel very confident about UT’s chances here. The Longhorns made a strong impression over the weekend, and Todd Orlando is quickly building a strong relationship with him.

Parker is ranked as the No. 66 inside linebacker and No. 1,605 overall prospect in the country, according to the 247sports Composite.

Texas expected to land 4-star DE
The Longhorns and Texas A&M have been batting for four-star defensive end Joseph Ossai (Conroe, TX), but it appears that Texas will land him on Wednesday, according to Holland.

Ossai’s recruitment has been one of the most interesting of the cycle. But it appears the Longhorns have taken the overwhelming lead over Texas A&M in this one. Texas made a tremendous push while Texas A&M scrambled to find a defensive coordinator and took command last month when a trio of coaches made an in-home visit. This one isn’t over just yet, but Texas is in a prime position to seal the deal.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder is ranked as the No. 11 weak-side defensive end and No. 186 overall prospect in the country, according to the 247sports Composite.

3-star OL signs with Texas
Three-star offensive lineman Christian Jones (Cypress, TX) announced his commitment to Texas on Monday.

"Texas is my dream school," Jones said. "McCombs is a great place and getting a degree from there would be amazing. Football wise, right now is such a great opportunity to write our names in history. The Class of 2018 is shaped up amazing, and I can’t wait to see what we do in the next few years."

The 6-foot-6, 285-pounder is ranked as the No. 56 offensive tackle and No. 715 overall prospect in the country, according to the 247sports Composite.
