Texas Football Recruiting: Four-Star CB And 2018 Recruit Interested In Longhorns And Latest On Devonta Smith

The college football season doesn't start for roughly two months, giving the Texas Longhorns plenty of time to focus on recruiting. Texas has turned up the heat on the recruiting trail during the offseason, and it's already paid off with seven commitments. And that doesn't include the players the Texas landed after the Baylor scandal. But the Longhorns are far from done. Here are the latest news and rumors surrounding Texas football recruiting

Four-Star CB Interested In Texas?
Brad Stewart is a four-star CB drawing plenty of interest from schools, and he's high on the Longhorns. He says he has an offer from Texas and is interested in heading to Austin.

"My interest in Texas is big," Stewart told 247Sports. "They are one of the powerhouse programs. They’ve fallen off a bit, but I think they are going come up sooner or later and get back to where they are supposed to be."

Stewart is from Louisiana and is the No. 20 corner. He's also the No. 182 overall recruit and the No. 7 recruit from the state of Louisiana.

2018 Recruit Wants To Hear From Texas?
The 2017 class is the priority, but Texas isn't overlooking the 2018 class. One player that could be on their radar soon is WR Terrace Marshall. He told 247Sports he wants to hear from Texas.

"Texas is a good school, especially academically," Marshall said. "If they showed interest in me, I would definitely have some love for them. But I haven’t heard anything from them yet."

Marshall is a five-star recruit, the No. 2 WR and the top player from Louisiana. Texas hasn't offered yet, but Marshall said no school has stood out yet. That gives Texas time to get in on Marshall.

Texas Out On Five-Star WR?
Devonta Smith is a five-star WR and the No. 13 player in the country. He has an offer from Texas, but the Longhorns didn't make the cut for his final four.

"I made Top 4 of Mississippi State, Nebraska, Miami and Alabama," Smith told 24Sports. "I will be committing on August 15. Those are my four set schools. Since I got the Texas offer, I haven’t talked to anybody, so it is what it is."

Smith left open the door for Texas to get back in the mix after the current recruiting dead period ends, but it's not looking great for the Longhorns.
