Texas Football Recruiting: 3 Rumors You Need To Know With A Week 'Til Signing Day

We're just seven days away from National Signing Day on February 3rd, which means head coach Charlie Strong and the Texas Longhorns are tripling down their efforts in hopes of delivering a banner 2016 recruiting class. With that in mind, here are the three biggest rumors from the Texas recruiting trail for January 27th.

Texas Now Favored For Jordan Elliott
Four-star Houston Westside defensive tackle Jordan Elliott decommitted from Michigan on Wednesday, and it's very possible that his visit to Austin just over a week ago is the impetus for him dropping off Jim Harbaugh's "get" list. Elliott is reportedly extremely high on the Longhorns, and it would be a minor miracle for another team to swoop in on the #14 overall defensive tackle in the nation before he announces on National Signing Day.

Longhorns Out In Front For Three-Star Standout
St. Augustine (LA) defensive tackle D'Andre Christmas-Giles will not visit Ole Miss this weekend as initially planned, which means he's likely hard and fast on his three-team shortlist of Texas, TCU and LSU.

Texas is a comfortable favorite for his pledge, but LSU's recent run of blue-chip pickups is definitely piquing plenty of uncommitted recruits' interest right now -- including Christmas-Giles. Get your Texas recruiting scoops first inside our Chat Sports iPhone and Android apps.

Strong visits Anderson
Head coach Charlie Strong visited four-star Manvel safety Deontay Anderson today, and the visit reportedly went well. However, will Texas has started to climb the ladder on his wishlist, it may be too little too late with Ole Miss comfortably leading right now.

Anderson is currently listed as the #2 safety in the Class of 2016 by 247Sports.
