AUSTIN, Texas – Texas junior Sam Worley was named South Central Region Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year, and Texas men's distance coach Pete Watson received the Johnny Morriss Award -- the South Central Region's Men's Coach of the Year distinction – from the United State Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday.
Worley, a junior from New Braunfels, Texas, won individual medalist honors on Friday at the South Central Regional in Fayetteville, Arkansas, running the 10K course in 29:49.8. Worley also won this season at the Bear Twilight Invitational and the Texas Invitational.
