IRVING, Texas — University of Texas sophomore guard Chendall Weaver has been named the Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league office announced Monday. This marks Weaver's first career weekly league honor.
In UT's two wins last week, Weaver averaged 15.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in 26.4 minutes per game. He converted 52.6-percent (10-19) from the floor and 10-of-13 (.769) free throws during the two contests. Weaver also was a huge part of the Texas defensive effort that helped limit its two opponents to a combined 38.2-percent (42-110) shooting from the floor, including a 29.
