US Open: Longhorn senior wins amateur competition

Texas Golf legend Jordan Spieth was unable to make a run at the U.S. Open Title this year. But, current Longhorn golfer Scottie Scheffler recorded the lowest score among amateurs at the U.S. Open on Sunday.

Scheffler finished the major tournament at 1-under par, tied for 27th.

Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth finished 1-over par, tied for 35th. [ Full Scoreboard ]

Coincidentally, the last Longhorn to record the low score at the U.S. Open as an amateur was Spieth in 2012.

Scheffler has joined an elite class with Spieth. The only thing missing for Scheffler is a National Title with Texas Golf.
