Florida Gators star QB D.J. Lagway has officially let the members of UF's coaching staff know that he plans on entering the 2026 transfer portal when it opens in January.
Lagway, the former 5-star quarterback from Willis HS (Willis, TX) was the top-rated player from the state of Texas in the 2024 recruiting class, and the No.1-ranked QB in the class according to 247sports.com.
He actually told the media that he's staying at Florida recently, so the news of him leaving is undoubtedly shocking to the college football world as a whole. Though he was dealing with an injury in 2025, Lagway still put together a pretty nice season despite throwing quite a few unneccessary interceptions late in the year.
