EUGENE, Ore. - Three Longhorns competed in the second day of the 2022 World Athletics Championships.
In just his second meet of the outdoor season, Texas All-American Steffin McCarter finished fifth in the long jump final with a jump of 8.04m.
Freshman Ackelia Smith improved her Texas program record in the triple jump prelims, finishing with a jump of 14.36m. Smith will compete in the finals on Monday at 8:20 pm.
Julien Alfred also advanced to the 100m semifinals on Sunday at 7:33 p.m., after finishing second in Heat 5 of the prelims with a time of 11.
