Texas, Texas Tech surpass $20 million in media rights revenue, documents show

Texas and Texas Tech reported a financial first during the 2017-18 school year.

The two in-state Big 12 programs surpassed the $20 in media rights revenue, according to each school's annual NCAA filing.

The documents obtained through open records showed a small bump for each program. Tech reported $21.1 million in media rights, while Texas earned $20.7 million. Each school reported less than $17.6 million during the previous year.

The Longhorns earned $18.5 million in football TV revenue, while the Red Raiders picked up $15.4 million.

Tech made up the difference with its surging men's basketball program.
