The Texas Longhorns travel to Ann Arbor this week to take on the reigning national champions, the Michigan Wolverines. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian understands the challenge ahead.
The program has a “ton of respect for this program, for this team,” Sarkisian said, according to Sports Illustrated. “You don’t go to three straight College Football Playoffs if you don’t have a great program, and they’ve got a great program obviously, capping it off last year being national champs.”
Despite Michigan having to reload after last year’s championship run, including its head coach (Jim Harbaugh left Michigan for the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers) and starting quarterback (JJ McCarthy was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft), Sarkisian added that he expects the game to remain close throughout all four quarters.
