Texas signee Petey Halpin drafted 95th overall by the Cleveland Indians

Texas Longhorns outfielder signee Petey Halpin was selected 95th overall by the Indians during the 2020 MLB Draft on Thursday and joins Carson Tucker as the second Longhorns signee to be drafted by Cleveland.

Born in San Mateo, California, Halpin spent his senior year at Mira Costa High School after playing three years for St. Francis.

Halpin is the only outfielder in David Pierce’s 2020 recruiting class, which finished ranked first overall, according to Baseball America.

“Getting drafted and becoming a professional baseball player is obviously my main goal and a dream of mine,” Halpin told the Baseball Prospect Journal.
