AUSTIN -- Texas coach Tom Herman announced Thursday that redshirt sophomore offensive guard Patrick Hudson was hospitalized Wednesday after suffering a full-body cramp in practice. Herman called the issue a "heat illness."

Texas trainers immediately tended to Hudson and put him in a cold tank to help lower his body temperature, but it wasn't enough to lower it all the way down to a normal level, per Herman. An ambulance then arrived and took Hudson to the hospital to undergo treatment and tests, where doctors were finally able to get Hudson's body temperature back to normal. Hudson was placed in an intensive care unit.
