Not much of anything is on the line for Texas, except empty pride and avoiding only more embarrassment in a season filled with plenty of it. Losing to South Dakota State in the opening round of the NIT on their home floor, after finishing 16-16 and failing to make the NCAA tournament for the second time in three years, would be a really bad look for the Longhorns and an excruciating end to a lost season.
