A story of overcoming all odds and ignoring all the outside noise coming from national media transpired for the Texas men’s tennis team this season. Former Texas men’s tennis head coach Michael Centers was in the middle of a huge controversy for the falsifying of player scholarships in the past.
Despite all those potential distractions from that scandal for the Texas men’s tennis program, the team was able to defy all odds and get past the Wake Forest Demon Deacons to win the National Championship on May 19. The Texas women’s tennis program does have a few national titles under its belt, but this is the first ever for men’s tennis.
