The retired U.S. Air Force Reserve major will be honored during the coin toss when Texas Football hosts Iowa State.
During his freshman year at The University of Texas at San Antonio, Carl Dominguez says he spent more time playing sports than studying, so his decision to enlist in the U.S. Air Force Reserve was a means to "self-correct."
"I knew I needed to try something different," Dominguez said.
Something different turned into his life's calling.
He devoted one year to training as an aeromedical technician—or EMT in the sky—and that pathway awakened Dominguez's call to serve others.
