Texas lands more baseball pledges

Texas Longhorns baseball program made two significant additions on Wednesday by landing commitments from Lampasas left-handed pitcher/outfielder Ace Whitehead and Humble Summer Creek middle infielder Jayden Duplantier.

Whitehead is a 5’10, 180-pounder who also starts as the quarterback for Lampasas, earning recognition as the AP Class 4A Offensive Player of the Year as a junior after passing for 4,259 yards and 54 touchdowns while adding 723 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground. He also punts and serves as the place-kicker for Lampasas.

Due to his height, however, Whitehead’s future is in baseball. As a sophomore, he was the district Newcomer of the Year before earning the Offensive MVP award last season.
