Texas is attempting to convince WR Bru McCoy to stay in Austin, but it likely won't be enough

Texas made its best sale pitch Wednesday to keep prodigal football recruit Bru McCoy, with Tom Herman and Sam Ehlinger as part of the Longhorn delegation to southern California.

It almost certainly wasn't enough.

Multiple reports Thursday evening, the first by Rivals.com, indicated that McCoy had made a decision to reenter the NCAA's transfer portal and return to USC. McCoy hasn't publicly confirmed the decision and hasn't officially notified Texas, although that's likely a matter of time.

Ranked as a one of the nation's top recruits as a potential big-play receiver, McCoy left USC after enrolling for a couple of weeks in January when Kliff Kingsbury departed as offensive coordinator for the NFL.
