An interesting turn of events on the coaching staff for the Texas football program during bowl season occurred on Dec. 31. Former Texas third-year offensive coordinator Tim Beck was demoted after their regular season finale win over Texas Tech last month. After he was demoted to just quarterbacks coach, Beck seemed to be looking into other Division I football openings.
At one point, Beck was a candidate to be the next head coach of the FCS Lamar Cardinals. He also became one of the more experienced offensive coordinator candidates for any program with an opening at that position.
