Texas football recruiting locked up a few commitments at the end of July to give the 2019 class a boost. Four-star offensive tackle Javonne Shepherd gave his commitment to the Longhorns as the last big pledge of July. Yet, even though Shepherd was the highest rated commit to come about at the end of last month, it might not be the most important.
Three-star linebacker Marcus Tillman Jr. gave his commitment to the 2019 Texas football recruiting class just before Shepherd. Tillman Jr. is one of only two linebackers to commit in this class thus far and thus provides huge value to the program.
