Once Texas football takes the field on Oct. 6 to try and upend the No. 7 Oklahoma Sooners for the first time since 2015, the rest of the season’s fate will hangin the balance. A faint chance of the Longhorns making a run to the College Football Playoff hangs in the balance too with a win this weekend. The Horns would likely carry at least a top 12 ranking into Week 7 by knocking off the Sooners.
The Sooners are roughly seven point favorites for this game, so it’s not a spread that’s too wide. However, given how close this game usually is combined with the Horns’ rising profile entering this game, it should be a bit more narrow.
