Longhorn nation woke up to the tragic news on Sunday that former Texas football running back Cedric Benson passed away in a motorcycle accident in Austin. Benson was 36. Multiple news outlets reported the news including CBS Austin.
Benson put up numbers with the Texas Longhorns football program that everyone knew would translate to the NFL and they sure did. He racked up 5,540 yards during his four years at Texas including an 1,834-yard season in 2004. His remarkable 2004 season won him the Doak Walker Award, given to the nation’s top running back.
