The first week of the Texas high school football season is in the books, and though several Longhorn commits had good performances it was an up-and-down week overall for their teams.
Hudson Card and his highly-ranked Lake Travis team were upset at home by an Arlington Martin squad they had handled with relative ease a season ago. Defensive back commits Ethan Pouncey and Jerrin Thompson missed all or part of games in which their teams gave highly-rated foes all they could handle but fell short of victory.
Jaden Hullaby made some big plays on a limited amount of touches but saw his team lose to an out-of-state opponent by 33 points.
