This will be the final week in the regular season for Texas high school football, and the playoffs are set to begin next week. Out of the 26 recruits from the 2020 and 2021 classes currently committed to the Texas Longhorns, 21 play for teams that are assured of playing in the postseason, 2 more will be in the playoffs with a win, and 2 need to win and get some help from other district opponents losing. Remarkably, only one commit’s team has already been eliminated from playoff consideration going into the Week 11 schedule.
In the five years I’ve been doing these weekly posts at BON during the high school football season I cannot remember an instance in which such a high percentage of UT’s commits went into the last week of the regular season knowing it was not a given that they’d be turning in their equipment the following week.
