It may only be the first week of August, but it’s never too early to start scouting the first opponent of the season. Texas Football kicks off its 2019 campaign against Louisiana Tech in Austin on Aug. 31. The Texas Longhorns football team will look to win the opening game of the season for the first time since 2016.
Louisiana Tech finished 2018 with a record of 8-5. They lost their final two regular season games before claiming the Hawaii Bowl trophy with a 31-14 over the University of Hawaii.
The Bulldogs return some key starters on offense, a group that averaged just under 25 points a game last season.
