A seven-point loss to the No. 6 ranked LSU Tigers marked the peak of the non-conference schedule for the Texas football program this year. The other two opponents outside of Big 12 play for Texas are the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and the Rice Owls.
Texas knocked off Louisiana Tech in the regular season opener by the final score of 45-14 before falling short to LSU last weekend 45-38. Rice is the last opposition before the Big 12 opener against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Sep. 21. If Texas can get a two-game winning streak pieced together for the next week and a half about, then a definitive top 10 ranking could be regained.
