After completely obliterating the UTEP Miners on Saturday night, 59-3, the Texas Longhorns (1-0) are now among the nation’s top 10 appearance in the latest AP Top 25, climbing five spots from No. 14 to No. 9.
The Longhorns enjoyed a similar surge in the Amway Coaches Poll, improving from No. 14 to No. 8.
With then-No. 23 Iowa State dropping its opener to Louisiana, 31-14, Texas is one of just three ranked Big 12 teams, along with No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 11 Oklahoma State. Baylor, West Virginia, TCU, Iowa State, and Texas Tech are each receiving votes.
