The New Orleans Pelicans seemingly found a gem in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft, by landing former Texas Longhorns basketball center Jaxson Hayes at eighth overall. On July 14, Hayes and the Pelicans will face the Memphis Grizzlies in the Semifinals of Summer League in Vegas.
The Longhorns lost a special piece of last season’s roster when Hayes elected to take his talents to the next level and declare early for the 2019 NBA Draft. His draft stock soared at the outset of the 2018-19 college basketball season. It looked right away as if Hayes would become the next star one-and-done big man coming out of the Longhorns basketball program.
