Shaka Smart is promoting Mike Morrell to assistant coach, replacing David Cason, as reported by 247Sports. Last week, Cason was relieved of his duties.
In Smart’s coaching system of assistants being assigned positions, like in football, Morrell mainly worked with the guards.
Longhorn fans know the guards struggled mightily this season without a true point guard. But, Morrell and the coaching staff more than made up for it by recruiting Matt Coleman to Texas.
Incoming freshman Matt Coleman is expected to guide Texas Basketball next season and help get the team back to the NCAA Tournament.
