Sanders named to John Mackey Award watch list

Texas sophomore Ja’Tavion Sanders has been selected to the list honoring the most outstanding collegiate tight end.

NEW YORK – Texas sophomore Ja'Tavion Sanders has been named to the John Mackey Award watch list, The Friends of John Mackey announced on Friday. The Mackey Award has been given annually since 2000 to the most outstanding collegiate tight end.

Sanders enters his second season with the Longhorns having played in 12 games last season as a true freshman, appearing primarily on special teams with the field goal unit. As a blocking tight end, he helped Cameron Dicker connect on 13-of-15 field goals with a long of 50 yards and 49-of-50 after point tries.
