Report: Texas identifies Oregon State's Pat Casey as a top candidate to be Longhorns' next baseball coach

According to Ryan Autullo of the Austin American-Statesman, Texas has expressed interest in Oregon State's Pat Casey and has identified him as a top candidate to be the Longhorns' next head baseball coach.

Casey, who would replace Augie Garrido -- the winningest coach in college baseball history -- is 57 and coming off his 22nd season with the Beavers. Under Casey, Oregon State won national titles in 2006 and 2007. His salary, according to Autullo's report, is believed to be just shy of $1 million.

Late last month, Texas announced that Garrido was leaving his head coaching job for a position in the athletics department.
