Pat Weis, the legendary former University of Texas women's golf coach who began the program in 1969, passed away on Sunday in Austin. A pioneer with an immeasurable impact, Weis transitioned into a Burnt Orange sunset at the age of 89.

Weis led the Longhorns to become an official university team in 1973-74 and to achieve varsity status in 1974-75. She directed the Longhorns to great success from 1973-93. Weis joined the University of Texas in 1957 and served as an associate professor in the department of physical education.
