Omenihu drafted by Houston Texans

Texas defensive lineman Charles Omenihu was selected by the Houston Texans with the 161st overall pick in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft on Saturday in Nashville, Tenn.

With the selection of Omenihu, Texas has had at least one defensive lineman chosen in 15 of the last 20 drafts. He is also the fifth Longhorn chosen by the Houston Texans in their history with the last being RB D'Onta Foreman in 2017.The Texans also drafted DT Frank Okam in 2008, OL Kasey Studdard in 2007, and WR Sloan Thomas in 2004.

The 2018 Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year and a first-team All-Big 12 honoree, Omenihu helped lead the Longhorns to a 10-4 record and a win in the 2019 Allstate Sugar Bowl over Georgia as a senior in 2018.
