No. 9 Softball falls just short of WCWS with 8-5 loss at No. 5/4 Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – On Saturday afternoon in game three of the NCAA Tuscaloosa Super Regional, No. 9 Texas softball (46-17) nearly fought its way back from another deficit, bringing the tying run to the plate before coming up just short of a WCWS berth with an 8-5 loss to No. 5/4 Alabama (57-8).

  • Texas' 46 wins were the most for the Longhorns since registering 51 during the 2013 campaign.
  • Texas is now 8-4 all-time in NCAA Super Regional contests and is 1-2 in road match-ups

Major Players

Junior third baseman Shannon Rhodes led the offense by going a perfect 3-for-3 with a grand slam and four RBIs, while sophomore catcher Mary Iakopo added a 1-for-2 effort with two walks and a RBI.
