No. 9 seed Texas falls 7-3 to Notre Dame

The No. 9 seed Texas Longhorns failed to record an extra-base hit for the first time this season as the offense struggled in a 7-3 loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at the College World Series in Omaha on Friday night.

The Longhorns only managed six hits and struggled to seriously threaten the Irish, who took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and never relinquished it behind 11 hits, including two home runs. The pitching for Notre Dame was superior with left-hander John Michael Bertrand, who went 5.1 innings, allowing only six hits and three runs with eight strikeouts, and left-hander Jack Findlay went 2.
