AUSTIN — Graduate guard Marcus Carr posted a season-high 28 points to lead No. 7/8 Texas (8-1) to an 87-81 overtime victory against Rice (6-3) on Monday night at Moody Center. Carr tallied eight points during the overtime session while converting 2-of-2 field goals and 4-of-4 free throws.
Carr posted season highs in scoring, field goals made (9-16) and minutes (42) and tied his season high in three-point field goals made (4-7). Super senior Timmy Allen tallied 15 points (7-9 FG) in 22 minutes of action. Freshman Dillon Mitchell recorded 12 points (career-high 6-6 FT), nine rebounds and three steals in 32 minutes, and graduate Sir'Jabari Rice added 11 points and four assists in 34 minutes.
