KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Graduate guard Marcus Carr recorded a team-high 17 points, but No. 5/7 Texas (29-9) lost 88-81 to No. 16/15 Miami, Fla. (29-7) in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight on Sunday afternoon in T-Mobile Center. The Longhorns advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight for the first time since 2008 and eighth time in program history.
Carr converted 3-of-8 three-pointers and added a game-high six assists against just one turnover in 38 minutes. Super senior Timmy Allen posted 16 points while hitting 6-of-11 field goals and 4-of-6 free throws and tallied four rebounds and three assists in 32 minutes.
