BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – As a result of her blistering offensive statistics throughout Texas' three-game sweep of Kentucky last week, Longhorn sophomore Katie Stewart has been named the SEC's Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Stewart, who started all three games at shortstop against the Wildcats, finished the series with a .778/.800/1.222 slash line in nine official plate appearances. She scored a team-high six of the Longhorns' 28 runs scored against Kentucky pitching as well as drove in four runs herself. She finished the series as the only Texas softball student-athlete with double-digit total bases (11) in addition to a team-high 12 defensive assists, which were double the amount of the next closest teammate.
