For the No. 4 Texas Longhorns, the road to Omaha ended prematurely in the Austin Regional on Sunday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field with a 7-4 loss to the UTSA Roadrunners, the second defeat in two days against Pat Hallmark’s team as the Roadrunners advanced to the Super Regionals for the first time in school history.
If Sunday’s defeat was the end of a magical season for the Longhorns that saw Texas reach No. 1 in the country and finish in first place in the SEC regular-season standings, it also represented the end of an impressive run of performances by sophomore right-hander Hudson Hamilton and redshirt sophomore left-hander Ethan Walker.
