LAFAYETTE, La. – The No. 24 Texas baseball team fought back valiantly but came up just short, 8-6, in the series finale to Louisiana on Sunday at M.L. 'Tigue' Moore Field at Russo Park. The Longhorns trailed 8-1 before rallying to get back in the game.
Freshman Eric Kennedy had another big day at the plate, hitting a pinch-hit three-run homer in the sixth inning that trimmed the Louisiana lead to 8-5.
Matteo Bocchi was solid in relief, making his season debut and pitching three scoreless innings with two strikeouts. He entered the game in the sixth inning and finished the game.
