LUBBOCK, Texas — Senior guard Marcus Carr registered a team-high 18 points, but No. 23/21 Texas (16-6, 5-4 Big 12) dropped a 77-64 decision at No. 14/14 Texas Tech (17-5, 6-3 Big 12) on Tuesday night before a sellout crowd at United Supermarkets Arena. The game marked the return to Lubbock of Texas head coach Chris Beard, who served as head coach at Texas Tech for five years and spent another 10 seasons in Lubbock as an assistant coach for the Red Raiders.
Carr converted 5-of-12 field goals and 7-of-8 free throws while adding three assists without a turnover in 31 minutes.
