AUSTIN, Texas – No. 15 Texas Baseball's Lebarron Johnson Jr. has been named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, while Peyton Powell was named the Big 12's Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Johnson Jr. threw eight shutout innings, allowing just two hits on Friday night against Cal Poly. The right-hander from Jacksonville, Florida struck out eight Mustangs, and never allowed more than one batter to reach in any inning. His start set the tone for the Longhorn hurlers in the series, as they shut out Cal Poly over the entire three-game set, a feat only accomplished one other time by Texas since 1971.
