STANFORD, Calif. – Behind a dominant pitching performance by freshman Ty Madden, No. 12 Texas Baseball shut out No. 6 Stanford, 4-0, in the series opener Thursday at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond.
Madden spun an absolute gem, pitching seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in his second career start and fourth appearance. He allowed just five hits in his seven innings on the mound.
The Cypress, Texas product, got out of a tough spot in the fifth inning with two runners on base and nobody out. He managed to get out of the jam with a strikeout, a pop up and a groundout.
